You think you Have a Personal Injury Case, What’s Next?

  1. Open a claim with your insurance company. HOWEVER, if the adjuster asks you if you are injured, make sure you tell them you would like to consult with an attorney, and do not provide any additional information. Let the attorneys at The Modern Law Group speak on your behalf.

  2. Do not give the insurance company any statements.  Insurance companies are not your friend, and that includes your insurance company as well!  Don’t let them trick you into saying something that can hurt your claim or can be used against you in the future.  Let them know you are speaking with an attorney and to direct all questions to them.

  3. Start treating with a doctor right away!  If you are the owner of any insured vehicle in Florida, you have 14 days to being treatment and potentially qualify for insurance benefits to cover your medical expenses or lost wages.  Don’t miss out!

  4. Once you get to the doctor’s office be sure to be detailed and descriptive.  Inform the doctor about any and all injuries, no matter how big or small, so that they are documented and treated appropriately.  Try not to cancel or miss any appointments as that can negatively impact your case.

  5. Provide the doctor’s office with all applicable insurance information.  Be sure to include your claim number, auto insurance policy information, and health insurance if applicable.  This will help to avoid medical billing problems in the future.
